"Enjoy 'In The Moments'"

Wow! I havent written for about 2 weeks. Sorry everyone.

So this has been a CRAZY few weeks. A lot as happened. We found a lot of people and my investigator, Maria Jesus is progressing so much! She went to church yesterday and all of the talks and clases were awesome. I was soooo happy and grateful for that. We have been reading the Book of Mormon a lot with her and her kids. Her husband is always working and so that is a bummer. She really loves the Book of Mormon more and more each day. We talked to our ward missionary leader a few weeks ago and he said that a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon BEFORE baptism is so important. She read about Lehi's dream on her own Saturday and in church she talked to all the members about it. She is just the best :)

We found these 2 girls, twins actually, just knocking doors. Karen and Norma. SUPER CUTE! They are 24 and live with their boyfriends Daniel and Alejandro. We met Daniel, but not Alejandro. They are all so sweet and are so interested! Actually, Karen and Norma took the missionary lessons about 3 years ago and they really do remember a lot! I can see the seeds of other missionaries :) And Daniel went to a baptism about 8 years ago. They all are so good and really want to learn more. Daniel had a lot of questions for us!!!

Besides that, I am just doing the day to day routine of a missionary. Work work work work! I talked with Hermana Rimmasch last night and she told me Ramon is doing great. He gave his first talk in church and was so nervous! Hahaha was a cutie! Sure love that man :) And that he is getting so far in the Book of Mormon!

Well everyone, enjoy in the moments! Sometimes, I get too stressed that I forget to focus on the fun parts of this life I have right now. Focus on the fun and everything will be okay :)

Con amor,
Hermana Burnham

"How We Treat Each Other"

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been a bit lazy about letters. I know. But I promise to do better!

So we had transfers and now I am with not Ecuador but..... PERU! Ya. I have Hermana Matias from Peru. We came to the mission the same day too. It's so cool. She is a super tiny little girl and has a big desire to work hard everyday! It's so awesome.

Right before I had transfers, me and Hermana Vargas met a golden family. Really though. GOLDEN. We just knocked the door randomly and the mom, Maria Jesus, let us right in. We didn't even say hardly anything. She gave us Coca Cola and cookies and we had an awesome little discussion :) Hahahaha! She went to the church a lot as a kid with her neighbor but hasn't been for a long time. Maria Jesus talked so much about how she loves the primary and singing in the church. She is so cute. She is married to a policeman, Hector and has 4 kids. Her kids are 17, 7, 5, and 1. They are such a cute family. Then with Hermana Matias we taught them again and on Sunday, she came to church!!!! Maria Jesus and her two little kids, Francisco and Josefa. They loved it. She especially loved Relief Society!

While in Relief Society, some of the women were not so happy. We didn't have lunch with anyone and couldn't buy food. Hermana Sandra was a little frustrated and asked why an Hermana from the ward was refusing to give the missionaries lunch today, and then this hermana said she would never give lunch to the sisters again because sisters in the past wouldn't eat her food because of allergies. Needless to say, it was a MESS and I was a little embarrassed that Maria Jesus had to see all that. While in the midst of this hot discussion, Maria Jesus spoke up and said, "Why can't I just give them lunch every Sunday?" Needless to say, she is golden and we had lunch with an investigator.

But the point of my story, is that Maria Jesus was shocked. She told us in lunch she did not like the way other sisters were being treated. It was hard and sad to explain to her that this happens. It shouldn't, but it does. I made a goal after that, to never treat a sister like that. It's not necessary. Lots of mean things were said about this other sister in the ward and it was sad to see. Maria Jesus did NOT like that, but she understands that it was just something that happened. But still. We need to watch how we act, especially with people who are investigating the church and EACH OTHER IN THE CHURCH!!!!

So goal for the week!!! Watch what you say and how you treat others. I am not perfect at all in this area, but I will keep trying :)

Con amor,
Hermana Burnham
